As one of the designated lead adult trauma hospitals in Toronto, the staff at St. Michael's Hospital can provide expert information on injury prevention strategies for youth.
The TIPSY program was implemented in January 2006.
The program is a full day injury prevention program offered through out the academic year to high school students (grade 11 & 12) in the Greater Toronto Area. The schedule includes presentation from the emergency department, brain/spinal cord 101, tour of the emergency room trauma bay, tour of the trauma/neurosurgery intensive care unit, interactive presentations from Toronto Police Services, Mother's Against Drunk Driving, and the Voice of Injury Prevention.
